There are lots of reasons to appreciate, even cherish for the
body
you have.Your body is yours, uniquely yours, to use, take care of, and
to treasure. Your mind rules your body, so learn simple ways to keep
your body in line! You don't need to diet to lose weight and maintain
it. In fact 99% of dieters regain what they lost and gain even more
weight. Instead of useless and frustrating diets, try the following
tips.
Skin Brushing
Skin brushing is a great way to rejuvinate your skin and to clear away
toxins from your body. Using a firm, dry brush to gently brush your
skin all over your body, helps your skin to glow by removing all of the
dull and dead layers of skin that exist on the top of your skin. It
also helps to encourage new cells to regenerate.
To begin the daily practice of brushing your skin, you will need a body
brush that has natural bristles. Begin by brushing at your feet and
slowly work your way up towards your legs, buttocks, hips, stomach,
chest, arms, hands, neck and end with the face (you may decide to use a
softer brush for the face). It is suggested to brush upwards toward
your heart (always brush upwards) and to brush softly on the areas of
your body where you skin is the softest and thinnest. It is also
suggested to brush more in a circular motion around the stomach and
chest areas.
This technique of brushing will take anywhere between three and fifteen
minutes, depending on how many strokes you give to each area as well as
how meditatively you choose to brush. Skin brushing is best done right
before a bath or a shower. You can brush your skin in the morning or in
the evening, whichever you prefer.
Steam bath
An enclosed room with steam diffused with essential oils open one's
pores, moisturize the skin and invigorates one's body.
Preventing Dry Skin
Dry skin is not nice. To begin to heal and prevent dry skin, try the
following tips.
Proper hydration
is absolutely essential to having supple, healthy, and
vibrant skin. Avoid Caffeine, alcohol and smoking and stick to drinking
at least eight glasses of water every day. Caffeine, alcohol and
smoking are diuretics that can cause dehydration and can wreak havoc on
your skin. Along with drinking plenty of water daily, you can add water
rich fruits and vegetables to your diet such as watermelon, cantaloupe,
lettuce, etc. Avoid taking more than one bath or shower on most days.
If you use hot water during your baths and showers, switch back and
forth between hot and cooler temperatures and end each bath or shower
with at least three minutes of cooler temperature water contact on your
skin. Hot water can dehydrate your skin even more.
Use Gentle Cleansers,
Try not to use harsher cleansers such as
deodorant soaps. Instead try using moisture rich body washes, soaps and
cleansers. Oatmeal and milk beauty products work really well for dry
skin and to help prevent dry skin. Petroleum Jelly also works great to
prevent moisture loss, though it is messy.
Moisturizing treatment
Deep cleansing and exfoliation is followed by a massage and deep
moisturizing treatment using marine sediment.
